    • DIVORCE: 1855, as noted on p. 92 of the book, THE DESCENDANTS OF JACOB STRONG, as cited in the sources. This date is noted in the Family Bible of William Strong. It may not be correct, however, as William was married to Harriet Neeley on the 17th of April 1856, and Martha picked her for his 2nd wife. We have no accurate date for the divorce.

      MARRIAGE: William and Martha met in 1849 on the journey West. Martha was 16. They lived in the Old Fort in Salt Lake Valley and then moved to Farrs Fort, near Ogden and from there to Springville. They were wed by Bishop David Pettegrew of the Tenth Ward.

      SEALING TO SPOUSE: Endowment House Records in Special Collections at the Family History Library, FHL film 183374, notes that Martha was sealed to William Strong on 18 April 1856. The Sealing was performed by Brigham Young in the President's Office. [7]

    Martha Bromley Alvord Strong met William Strong on the pioneer trek to Salt Lake and married him a month after arriving in 1849. She divorced him in 1855 after having one child, Harriet Louisa Strong.

    Biogrraphy of Martha Bromley Alvord who was the only daughter out of six children born to Thaddeus Alvord and Sally Celestina Briggs. She was born at Waterford, Michigan on February 28, 1833.

      MARRIAGE:
      1) Martha was 16 when she crossed the plains. She met William on the trip to Salt Lake City.
      2) Martha selected Harriet Neeley, William's second wife. Harriet was 18 and in need of a home.
      3) The IGI indicates that both Martha and her daughter, Harriet Louisa Strong were married to a Benjamin Franklin Harrington. More research is needed to confirm or disprove this.
