  • Notes
    • According to the book, STRONG FAMILY HISTORIES, Vol. V, noted in the sources, Johan Jacob Strong and his wife, Catherine moved from Pennsylvania to Mahoning County, Ohio in 1830 and thence to Fulton County, Indiana in 1852.

Some records indicate that Johan Jacob Strong married Catherine Emenheiser. The origin of this may be the book, "The History of the Descendants of Elder John Strong of Northampton, Massachusetts" written by Benjamin Woodridge Dwight (1871), p. 1532. Subsequent research done by Grace Williams, a family genealogist, indicates that he married a Catherine Schwab.

DEATH: There is a problem with Jacob's death date, as he died before he signed his will, according to the dates we have.

      WILL OF JACOB STRONG

In the name of God, Amen. Jacob Strong of the Township of Henry and County of Fulton and State of Indiana, being of sound mind and memory, do therefore make and ordain and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament first after all my lawful debts are paid I desire that all my real estate to remain as it now is undivided until my youngest child becomes of age to act for herself. All such personal property that can be spared off from the place may be sold retaining tools, teams that is necessary to carry on the farm which I also wish to have my barn finish as soon as convenient that is now … to Jacob Harmon. After all my debts are paid I want my Administrator to keep all money that may be left in hand and pay over to the family as they may be in want of from time to time until the children are all of age and then to be divided equally between them and all share alike. Likewise I made constitute and appoint Jacob Whittenberger to by my Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 11th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven. [Jacob Strong made a “X” for his mark]

Apparently Jacob was not in his right mind when he signed his will, as noted by his witnesses.
