Notes |
- OCCUPATION: Yeoman, Tailor.
ORDINANCES: re-slg to parents 8 Mar 1984 JRIVE. Jacob Strong performed a proxy baptism for "Grandfather Howard" in the Mississippi River in "1841." Source: Nauvoo Baptismal Records of the Dead, Book A204.
IMMIGRATION: To Pennsylvania with his parents and siblings 16 Sep 1751 on the ship Brothers.
BIRTHDATES OF CHILDREN: Our researcher, Boyd Nielsen, assures us that the birthdates of the children are accurate according to the sources used and that all of these children belong to Anthoni Hauer and Maria Barbara Kiefer, and the birth order is correct. Some evidence suggests that Jacob and Elizabeth were twins, perhaps born in 1769 rather than 1770, which would clear-up the confusion. Also, one of the births of the last two children may have been incorrectly noted by the original recorder.
WILL: Mary M. Timothy, a family genealogist, gave a talk at a Strong meeting on the 19th of November, 1977. She stated that Anthoni's will mentioned only three people by name: His son, Peter, his son-in-law John Arnold, both of whom were executors of his will, and his son-in-law John Akerman who was to get nothing, because he had left his daughter. His property was to be divided nine equal ways. James Strong and Maria Catherine Hauer had moved from York to Indiana County by the time her father died. (Will mentioned in "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County" cited in the sources.) The will was signed on March 25, 1804 and probated in April of 1804.
NAME: "Hauer" means someone who hits or strikes on something, like a smith.
