      OBITUARY FOR VIRGINIA LEACH
      Longview Daily News, Monday July 4, 1966
      FORMER KELSO WOMAN DIES IN NISQUALLY BRIDGE CRASH
      A former Kelso woman died and two other members of her family were seriously injured Sunday in a Pacific Highway traffic accident near Olympia.
      Killed was Mrs. Virginia Leach 47, of Snoqualmie. Her husband, Arthur and their daughter, Susan 14, were taken to an Olympia hospital with multiple serious injuries.
      The same accident claimed the life of Mrs. Elemeda Statler, 61 of Okanogan and resulted in injuries to several other persons.
      The mishap occurred shortly before noon when an unidentified motorist stopped to change a tire on the narrow Nisqually Bridge. Clark Statler, 70 braking his car to miss the stopped vehicle, swerved broadside into the Leach car, killing the wives of both men.
      A third car piled into the wreckage and set off a chain reaction of other collisions on the bridge. The State Patrol said none of the other drivers was hurt seriously, but vehicle damage was extensive.
      Mr. and Mrs. Leach reside in Kelso for many years before moving about 10 years ago. Surviving Mrs. Leach besides her husband are a son, Mark; three daughters, Mrs. Diane Shinner, of Mercer Island and Mrs. Cecilia Mitchell of Fall City and Susan at home; her mother, Mrs. Dove Carroll of Kelso,; a sister, Mrs. Pat King, and three brothers, Floyd Carroll of Longview, Tom Carroll of Snoqualmie and Sam Carroll of Olympia

      OBITUARY FOR VIRGINIA LEACH
      Last rites held for Virginia Leach, accident victim
      Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia May Carroll Leach of Meadowbrook, who lost her life in an automobile accident on July 3, were held July 9 at the Issaquah Funeral Home.
      Mrs. Leach who was born August 20, 1920 was the daughter of Mrs. Dove Carroll of Kelso and the late Mr. Floyd Carroll. She grew up in Kelso and was graduated from high school there.
      She and her husband, Arthur B. Leach were married May 30, 1940 and they came to the Valley in 1959.
      Mrs. Leach was employed at Shinner Electric co. in Snoqualmie at the time of the fatal crash. She was secretary of the Dr. Samuel Max Orthopedic Auxiliary and president of the Snoqualmie Firettes. She had been active in both elementary and high school PTA groups.
      The Rev James Fraley of Bellevue Christian Church officiated at the last rites. Mr. Paul Elmer, at the organ, accompanied Mrs. Hazel Wilfong, soloist.
      Pallbearers were the members of the Snoqualmie Volunteer fire Department, Mark Leach was an honorary pallbearer. concluding services and interment were at the Fall City cemetery.
      In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leach is survived by her mother, Mrs. Dove Carroll of Kelso; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Diane) Shinner of Mercer Island, Mrs, Jerry (Cecelia) Mitchell of Fall City and Susan, 15; one son, Mark, 12 at the family home in Meadowbrook; two grandchildren; three brothers, Sam Carroll of Olympia, Floyd Carroll of Kelso and Tom Carroll of Snoqualmie; and one sister, Mrs. Pat King of Kelso.
      Both Susan and her father remain hospitalized at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia where they are being treated for injuries suffered in the accident which claimed the life of Mrs. Leach.
