DONALD JENNINGS, LEMARS MAN, DIES IN PLANE CRASH WAS WITH ARMY AIR FORCES ON CHINESE FRONT
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jennings were notified by the war department Sunday, December 31, that their son, Pvt. Donald Jennings, had been killed in a plane crash December 25, at Chengto, China. Donald was a radio operator on a transport plane and was stationed in India.
He entered the service in December, 1942, and received his training at Scott Field, Illinois. He had been stationed in Reno, Nevada, and Florida, but after his furlough in August, 1944, he was sent overseas and stationed in India.
Donald Jennings was born October 6, 1915, in LeMars and attended the LeMars public school, graduating from the LeMars High School with the Class of 1934. Following his graduation he worked as a painter. The survivors, besides his parents, are three brothers, Sgt. Walter Jennings, in the air corps and stationed at Pratt, Kansas, Robert Cecil Jennings, S2/c, in the southwest Pacific, and Charles S., defense worker in Sunnyside, Washington; also a sister, Leona, who is working in Sioux City.
