      "Resolutions of Condolence
      At a regular meeting of the Silverton Teamster's and Packer's Union No. 429, the following resolutions were adopted on the death of our brother H. A. Turner:
      Whereas, It has pleased the Almighty God, in the exercise of His Divine Duty and Love, to remove from our midst our beloved brother, H. A. Turner, and
      Whereas, The deceased was a member in good standing in our local, Teamsters Union, a good citizen, upright, industrious worker for union causes and having the good will of all who knew him; therefore, be it
      Resolved, That the sudden band of death has cut down a life that was full of kindness to his fellow brothers, and the removal of Brother H. A. Turner from our midst have the tendency to bind us as union men, closer to one another; and, be it further
      Resolved, that we extend to the family of our departed Brother our heartfelt simpathy in the hour of their sorrow and bereavement; and, be it further
      Resolved, That our charter be draped in mourning for a peirod [sp] of thirty days; that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the grief-stricken family as a mark to esteem and respect for our departed brother, and that a copy be sent to the official journal for publication.

      Hall of Silverton Camp No. 280 Woodmen of the World, Sept. 18, 1911.
      We, your committee on resolutions of respect, on the death of Neighbor Edward H. Turner, beg leave to report as follows:
      Whereas In the death of Neighbor Turner, his widow and children are bereft of a kind and loving husband and father, the Woodmen of the World a true Neighbor, and the community at large a good citizen, and
      Whereas We, the members of the Woodmen of the World manifest a most sincere interest in the welfare of our members, rejoicing in their happiness, and sympathizing with them in their sorrows,
      Therefore
      Be It Resolved That we, the members of Silverton camp No. 280 Woodmen of the World, most sincerely deplore the loss of our neighbor, and extend to the bereaved family our heartfelt and sincere sympathy in this their sad hour of affliction, and
      Be It Further Resolved that the charter of our camp be draped for thirty days, and that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the camp, and a copy sent to the sorrowing family and local papers.

      (11) - May 3, 1861 - Sept 15, 1911 - Age 50 Years
      Ed, a well known and highly respected Silverton resident, died at Miners Union Hospital after being seriously ill with chronic problems several months. With his passing, another good man was gone to reap the reward of an upright and well spent life.
      Born in Iowa, the son of Jesse Turner, Edward and Mrs. Jennie Jennings Burke were married in Iowa in 1892. Jennie had a daughter and son, Nora and William Walter Burke; another daughter, Frances Burke, died young. Children born to Edward and Jennie were Harry Edward "Fatty" in 1894, Johnny H. in 1898, and Orville, who died in infancy. The family moved to Silverton to make their home in 1901. At the time of his death, Ed worked as a teamster for F.O. Sherwood.
      Survivors were his wife, Jennie, and their sons, Harry and John; also his step-daughter, Nora Burke (Mrs. Herbert) Lugg, and his step-son, William Walter Burke. The funeral was held at the family home under the auspices of the Woodmen of the World, conducted by Rev. Arthur Walkington Pink of the Congregational church. A large number of friends were present to pay their last tribute of love and respect. Burial was at Hillside, where his marker resembles a tree and is inscribed "Here Rests a Woodman of the World".

      E. H. Turner Passes Away
      On Friday morning E. H. Turner died at Miners' Union Hospital after a comparatively short illness. He had been a resident of Silverton for the past ten years and was well known and highly respected throughout the San Juan district. He was about fifty years of age and leaves a wife, two sons, and a step daughter, Mrs. Herbert Lugg and a step son to morn his loss, who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. Another good man has gone to reap the reward of an upright and well spent life. Funeral will be held from the residence at 10 o'clock Monday morning, under the auspices of the W.O.W.

      E. H. Turner Laid to Rest
      The funeral of E. H. Turner was held from the family residence Monday morning under the auspices of the Woodmen of the world, the deceased having been a member of that organization. Survices were conducted by Rev. A. W. Pink of the Congregational church. A large number of friends were present to pay their last tribute of love and respect to one so noble in character, a man admired and highly esteemed by his fellowmen.
