KENNETH CHARLES JENNINGS
Kenneth Charles Jennings was born March 9, 1913, at Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a son of the late Albert Civil Jennings and Minnie Feak Jennings. He entered eternal life March 29, 1995, at the age of 82 years and 20 days.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Olive Spencer and to this union four sons and two daughters were born. After Olive's death he was united in marriage to Lucille Haffer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Earl Jennings, two sisters, Mary Boyd and Ethel Peters.
He served his country in the United States Army, during World War II, and served twice in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. During this time he received many awards. Some of the commendations were European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Medical Badge and earned the rank of SFC E-6. Kenneth served from May 14, 1942, until his retirement, June 30, 1965.
Among those who remain to morn his passing are his loving wife Lucille Jennings of the home in Steelville, Mo.; four sons, George Jennings and wife Glenna of Lebanon, Mo., John Jennings and wife Lynn, Robert Jennings and wife Yvonne all of Anacortas, Washington, Michael Jennings and wife Cyndi of Everett, Washington; two devoted daughters, Patricia and husband, Ron Merritt of Steelville, Mo., Brenda and husband Jim Jennings of Anacortas, Washington.
One step-son, Kenneth Downing and wife, Bonnie, of Salem, Mo., three step-daughters, Bonnie and husband Larry Reuther of Eolia, Mo., Linda and husband Kenneth Steger of Springfield, Mo., and Donna Weber of Labadie, Mo.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George McConnell and Melba Doss of Steelville, Mo., Raymond and Mary Haffer of St. James, Mo., Ruth Thomas, Gladys Hammond, Ruby and Bill Barman, Fern and Bob McClain, Floyd and Marie Haffer, all of St. Louis, MO.
Thirteen grandchildren, Darlena Simmons, Melinee Mabes, Robert Merritt, Shondra Merritt, Jamey Jennings, Stephen Jennings, Rick Mathew, Jennifer Jennings, Nancy Lewis, John Jennings, Jason Jennings, Kim Pryor, and Rick Mathes; nine step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Kenneth Charles Jennings lay in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 1995, Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday. March 31, 1995, at Assembly of God Church, Steelville, Mo., with Pastor James Perkins officiating.
Musical selections were provided by Gary and Sharon Hardecke. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Butts, Mo.
Pallbearers were part of an Honor Guard from Fort Leonard Wood, who also provided graveside military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
