OBITUARY FOR ELMER HOOVER, DAILY NEWS, FRIDAY, AUGUST 20, 1999
LONGVIEW, COWLITZ, WASHINGTON
Elmer M. Hoover
Lifelong Kelso resident Elmer Michael Hoover, 88, of Rose Valley, died Aug 18, 1999 at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born Oct 18, 1910 in Kelso, to George and Agnes (Howard) Hoover.
Mr. Hoover was a self-employed logger most of his life, retiring in 1976. The last 15 years of his logging career were spent as a contract logger for Longview Fibre Co. He worked at the Vancouver shipyards during World War II.
He was a charter member of the Kelso Elks, enjoyed working his cattle farm, and loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, playing golf, and spending time traveling to Arizona, the Oregon Coast and his cabin in Packwood, Wash.
Survivors include his wife, Marjory Hoover, at home; two daughters, Shirley Botsford of Packwood and Joan Wagner of Kelso; a brother, Cliff Hoover of Ocean Shores, Wash; two sisters, Bonnie Knudtson of Junction City, Ore., and Betty Krenz of St Helens, Ore; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Rose Valley Friends Church with Pastor Jeff Dumke officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Heath & Hospice, P.O. box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
Private interment will take place at Rose Valley Cemetery under the direction of Columbia funeral Services
