Howard, Arthur, 70 of 1407 N. 3rd ave., Kelso died suddenly September 21 while at work on his farm near Sandy Bend. Born at Rogue River, Oregon, October 15, 1882, he had been a resident in this area 52 years and had lived in Kelso 44 years. He was a member of the Shingleweavers Union and had been employed by the Long bell Lumber Company and as a fireman and logger. Surviving are the widow, Mable, at home; one son, Marion of Castle Rock; four daughters, Mrs A. H. Carpenter of Beaverton, Ore., Mrs. R. A. Beagle of Kelso, Mrs. J. F. Root of St Johns, Ore., and Mrs. W. D. Houghton of Orchards; five brothers, John of Chehalis, Wes of Oregon City, Ore., Marion of Centralia, Denny of Kelso and Hobson of Longview; four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Hiles, Mrs. Grace McFarland and Mrs. Agnes Hoover, all of Kelso and Mrs. Dolly Griffith of Longview, eight grand children and seven great grand children. Funeral services are pending. The Reardon-McVicker Funeral Home is in charge.
