      HOWARD, Mrs. Mable, 72 of Portland, died September 27 in Troutdale rest home. Born September 25, 1887, she was a native of Ostrander and lived much of her life in this area. Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Laverne Beagle, Kelso. Mrs. Lillian Carpenter, Beaverton, and Mrs. Edna Root and Mrs. Norma Houghton, both of Portland; a son, Marion Howard, Toledo; a sister, Mrs. Edna Carroll, Longview; a brother, George Hoover, Kelso; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in McVicker's Chapel on the Hill with the Rev. Phillip Laurie officiating. Interment will be in Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. McVicker's Chapel on the Hill is in charge.
