OBITUARY FOR SAMUEL HOOVER
Funeral services for Sam Hoover
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, for Samuel J. Hoover, aged 69, who passed away at a Salem hospital, Tuesday, Dec 2nd.
Although he has been under the doctor's care
for sometime his condition did not seem serious until he became suddenly ill
and was taken to the hospital where he passed away.
The services will be under the direction of the Smith Mortuary at the Calvary Presbyterian church, Independence with Rev. John W. Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Belcrest Memorial Park, Salem.
Mr. Hoover was born Dec 27, 1882 in Iowa and has made his home in Oregon and
Washington for many years. While in WA he was engaged in the logging business.
He then moved to Independence where he has been a Hop grower for the past 27 years.
He married Nellie Blaue at Kalama, Wash., who passed away in 1932. In 1941 he was married to Phoebe K. Patton
He is survived by his wife, one son, Melford S. Hoover of Independence and
two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Braley of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. John DeJong
of Alhambra, Calif.; one step daughter , Mrs. Oliver Clinton and two step sons, Robert
& Floyd Patton, all of Independence; one brother George W. Hoover of Kelso, Wash., and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Newstrum and Mrs. Edna Carroll of Longview, Wash., and Mrs. Mabel Howard of Kelso Wash.; six grand children and several step grandchildren and also a number of nephews and nieces.
