TURNER, JANE “JENNIE” JENNINGS BURKE – Died 1946
      Wife of Edward Howard Turner
Mother of Nora Burke Lugg, William Walter and Frances Lugg, Harry Edward "Fatty", Johnny H. and Orville Turner
Daughter of John and Mary Ann Wilson Jennings
Sister of Edith Jennings (Mrs. Orville) Bradfield, Mrs. Scott Seaworth, Jasper, Roy and Walter Jennings
      (11) - July 26, 1867 - Dec 23, 1946 - Age 79 Years
Jennie, who had lived in Silverton forty-five years, died in the early morning hours two days before Christmas. She died at the home of her daughter, Nora Lugg, in Silverton after being very ill six months, and blind several years. Her blindness had prevented her usual active participation in community and family affairs during her long and useful life. She had a wide circle of friends, who keenly felt the loss of their respected and sympathetic friend.
Born in Shelby County, Illinois, she was the daughter of John Jennings, born in Virginia, and the former Mary Ann Wilson, who was born in Pennsylvania. Jennie later lived in Iowa, where she married William Burke. The children born to that union were Nora in 1888, William Walter in 1891, and a daughter, Frances, who died at the age of two years. No other information was recorded for Jennie's first husband.
(This lets us know Frances was a daughter)
In September 1892 Jennie married Edward Howard Turner in Iowa. They became the parents of Harry and John Turner, and Orville, who died in infancy. The family came to Silverton to live in 1901, and the husband, Ed Turner, who worked for F.O. Sherwood, died in 1911.
Jennie's survivors included her daughter, Nora Lugg, and her sons, John and Harry Turner, all of Silverton; her sisters, Edith Jennings (Mrs. Orville) Bradfield of Miami, Arizona, and Mrs. Scott Seaworth of Durango; her brothers, Jasper, Roy and Walter Jennings, residents of LeMars, Iowa; her granddaughters, Gladys Lugg Larson and Vivian Lugg Loftus; grandsons, William Burke, great-granddaughters, Carleen Larson, Bonnie Jo Loftus, and great-grandsons, Vaughn Larson and Michael Loftus, all residents of Silverton.
The funeral was held at the Maguire Chapel, and burial was in the Turner-Lugg family plot at Hillside. Pallbearers were R.M. "Snarky" Andreatta, Aldo Bonavida, Angelo Dalla, Wilfred "Fats" Downtain, John Gilheany and Art Lorenzon.
