OLD RESIDENT BURIED
John Jennings Settled Here . . . . . . . . . . [unreadable] . . . . on Saturday afternoon was largely attended by old friends and neighbors. Mr. Jennings was born in Ohio on March 15, 1843. He came west when a young man and was married at Muscatine, Iowa, to Mary Ann Wilson, on July 3, 1865. She preceded him in death fifteen years ago.
Shortly after their marriage they homesteaded in Plymouth county. To their union fourteen children were born. The surviving children are, Albert Jennings and Mrs. Scott Seaworth Durango, Colo., Mrs. Jennie Turner and Mrs. Edith Bradfield, of Eureka, Colo., Jasper, Walter and Roy Jennings, of Le Mars.
Mr. Jennings was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor, and enjoyed the respect of a large number who know him well.
Since the death of his wife fifteen years ago, Mr. Jennings has made his home with his son, Roy Jennings. When he was first taken sick with his last illness about a month ago, he was brought to the home of his son, Jasper Jennings, in LeMars, where he could have medical care. Here he was nursed by his daughter, Mrs. Scott Seaworth, and other children until his departure.
His son, Will, died in Sioux city, on May 4th, and he never recovered from the shock occasioned by this bereavement.”
