Notes |
- LOCATION: According to Mrs. Samuel Helman, James Strong returned from Kansas to Indiana County, Pennsylvania (with the help of his extended family), lived there for awhile, and then moved his family to South Dakota. The family did not want to go, and neighbors remembered hearing the mother and children crying loudly as they left their home. They said good-bye to no one, as they were so worked-up. When James once again wanted to return home, his extended family felt that they couldn't help him again. However, the move proved to be a good one in the long run. There they became prominent in Rapid Valley. His son, William, became a prominent cattle man.
