James Hill, Sr., was one of the two original settlers (with James Strong, Jr.) of Strongstown, Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA. Strongstown was patented in 1823.
Extensive research was done on the parentage of James Hill by a professional researcher, A. Boyd Nielsen. The records of York and Lancaster Counties, Pennsylvania, were searched for references to the Hill Family. No direct evidence for his parentage was located. However, it seems probable to the professional researcher that Robert Hill and Agnes, who were married in October 1765 at York County, Pennsylvania, United States, are his parents and that John and Rachel Hill are his grandparents. We do know that James Hill had a sister named Sarah. A careful review of the records provided by the researcher by the Jacob Strong family verified that the Professional Genealogical Standard of Proof has been met and that this is, indeed a reasonable assumption. Therefore, James Hill has been attached to the Robert and Agnes Hill family. | James Hill, Sr.
