The Christoph Hauer (brother of Anna Maria) family and the Isaac De Poy families lived on properties that adjoined in Virginia. The two families intermarried, and most of the children of both families moved to Ross County, Ohio in the early 1800's.
In 1780, at the time of her father's will, the De Poy family was living in Myerstown, now Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. | Anna Maria Hauer

OCCUPATION: Yeoman, Tailor.
ORDINANCES: re-slg to parents 8 Mar 1984 JRIVE. Jacob Strong performed a proxy baptism for "Grandfather Howard" in the Mississippi River in "1841." Source: Nauvoo Baptismal Records of the Dead, Book A204.
IMMIGRATION: To Pennsylvania with his parents and siblings 16 Sep 1751 on the ship Brothers.
BIRTHDATES OF CHILDREN: Our researcher, Boyd Nielsen, assures us that the birthdates of the children are accurate according to the sources used and that all of these children belong to Anthoni Hauer and Maria Barbara Kiefer, and the birth order is correct. Some evidence suggests that Jacob and Elizabeth were twins, perhaps born in 1769 rather than 1770, which would clear-up the confusion. Also, one of the births of the last two children may have been incorrectly noted by the original recorder.
WILL: Mary M. Timothy, a family genealogist, gave a talk at a Strong meeting on the 19th of November, 1977. She stated that Anthoni's will mentioned only three people by name: His son, Peter, his son-in-law John Arnold, both of whom were executors of his will, and his son-in-law John Akerman who was to get nothing, because he had left his daughter. His property was to be divided nine equal ways. James Strong and Maria Catherine Hauer had moved from York to Indiana County by the time her father died. (Will mentioned in "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County" cited in the sources.) The will was signed on March 25, 1804 and probated in April of 1804.

The records of Neureth (Neureut) do not begin until 1700, so it has not been possible to extend this line further. At this time, Blankenloch was in Baden-Durlach, which is now Baden-Würtemberg.

There is a question as to whether this Christoph Hauer or another one born in the same area in 1701 is our ancestor. Our professional genealogist, Boyd Nielsen, feels that the 1702 Christoph Hauer is the ancestor of Jacob Strong. The reason for this is that a researcher in Germany who has done extensive research on the families in Blankenloch indicated that the 1702 Christoph and at least two of his siblings emigrated to America. It is not known what happened to the 1701 Christoph Hauer. We are aware that In the past our family genealogists have followed the 1701 Christoph Hauer. It is impossible at this time to tell with certainty which Christoph is ours, but our educated guess is that it is the 1702 Christoph, and therefore that is the line we are following. Both Christophs are sealed to Eva Müller. It is evident from the IGI ( as of 4/2009) that someone is doing very solid and careful research on the 1701 Christoph Hauer. We are going to keep an eye on this to be certain that family groups are being completed on this line and that the ordinance work is being done. At some future time, if needed, we may decide, as a Strong Family, to complete the work on his line as well. (There is some indication that the two Christophs may be related).
EMIGRATION: Christoph and his family immigrated to Pennsylvania 3 April 1751 on the ship "Brothers".
RESIDENCE: At the time of the marriage of his son, Sebastian, to Anna Maria Hauer, Christoph is listed as living in "Earlstown" | Christoph Hauer

BIRTH DATE: This birthdate is as it was listed by Boyd Nielsen, researcher. He assures me that these are the dates as were listed in the sources, and that this child belongs to Anthoni and Maria Barbara Kiefer Hauer. The sources for the births of children numbers 10 and 11 (Anthony and Elisabeth, respectively) seem strong. It is not known why the date for this child is less than 9 months after the birth of Anthony. It may be that the original recorder made an error when he recorded the birth of one of the two children.
